Camotes Island

Camotes Island as we all know hales the best white sand beaches in the province of Cebu. It is a go-to place during summer and even on rainy days. The island has been our adoptive home and we have been visiting this amazing island since 2010. Today, let me share with you the beautiful beaches of Camotes Island and what makes them unique from one another.

Bakhaw Beach Location: Esperanza, San Francisco, Camotes Island

Bakhaw Beach is a new favorite of babe and I. The beach is still secluded from tourist. There are few residential houses in the area yet it is still free from commercial activities. Basic facilities include nipa hut cottages and a small convenience store that offers basic supply of food and beverages. Going to the beach you have to pass through a newly mound dirt road with 5.00 php entrance fee. Bakhaw Beach features a long stretch of white sand and clear blue waters. The seashore is not shallow unlike Santiago Beach so you can immediately enjoy swimming few meters from the shore.

Tulang Diot Location: Esperanza, San Francisco, Pajican Island, Camotes

Tulang is an islet divided by the locals into two places; Tulang Diot and Tulang Dako. Tulang Dako is part of mainland San Francisco, while Tulang Diot is an islet of Tulang. Getting to Tulang Diot you have to go to Tulang Dako and ride on an outrigger boat with a fare of 10.00php per person if the boat is full. But if you are alone or you are just a couple then you have to pay for the entire boat which is 100.00php per trip. The islet has a limited basic amenities including nipa hut cottages, table and chairs for rent, and a small convenience store. Tulang Diot has a white sand beach that can compete with other beaches in Camotes Island. What makes this little paradise special is it has a sandbar that appears during low tide and submerged during high tide. Perimeter ropes are available to keep the swimmers out from the heavy rip current.

Buho Rock Resort Location: Poro, Camotes Island

A unique beach resort in Camotes is Buho Rock Resort. Unlike the common white sand beach, Buho Rock as its name entails is a coral rock shaped like a small ship docked at a port. The place is very famous for cliff diving. If you are not faint-hearted then this place is for you. There are two diving spots one is 8ft and the other is 14ft so keep that courage and jump off. To enjoy more the place and to take a closer look at the deep blue sea and the cliff you have to go down a steep winding stair. A little tiring but rewarding when you watch those people relieving their stress by jumping off the cliff.

Santiago White Beach Location: Santiago, San Francisco, Camotes Island

Santiago White Beach is the most famous beach in Camotes Island. Its long and wide stretch of white sand beach makes the place lovely. The beach is perfect for families especially with kids because the water is shallow. Santiago White Beach is the most famous beach in Camotes Island. Panglao Island Bohol

Image result for panglao island description

Panglao is a famous tourist destination for its white sand beaches and world-class diving sites. Panglao is very accessible to other natural wonders of Bohol such as the Chocolate Hills, the countless springs, rivers, falls and caves and the ever cute tarsier, the smallest primate in the world.
Bohol Panglao municipality covers an area of 5,537 hectares and with a population of 25,558 people as per 2007 census. It is politically subdivided into 10 barangays: Bil-isan, Bolod, Danao, Doljo, Libaong, Looc, Lourdes, Poblacion, Tangnan and Tawala.
Bohol Panglao beaches attract both local filipino and foreign visitors alike. Many resorts and hotels have sprung up right along the beaches and some a bit inland. The top Panglao beaches are Alona beach, Bagobo beach, Bolod beach, Danao beach, Doljo beach, and Momo beach .
Panglao is the southernmost town of Bohol. It is 18 kilometers from Tagbilaran City, the capital and the only city of the Province of Bohol. The island is accessible by two bridges and can be reached in a minimum of 20 minutes.
In spite of their stony and sandy island, the industrious people of Panglao town were able to develop little farms and raise corn, coconuts, oranges, bananas, mangoes and root crops. They raise chickens and sell them in Cebu, Manila and neighboring Tagbilaran.
The sea bordering the town has rich fishing grounds and from it, the town supplies Tagbilaran with fresh fish and fresh sea shells, among them amahong, daily. White sandy beaches of Panglao town are now being deluged by local and foreign tourists. Resorts, restaurants and bars sprouted and other business establishments, bringing much prosperity to the inhabitants and to the island as a whole. @lopezkeithjohn26

Camugao Falls Balilihan,Bohol

Image result for camugao falls bohol

For today’s adventure, I’m going to introduce to you one of Balilihan’s premier attractions, the Camugao Falls. The Camugao Falls is situated at Barangay San Isidro in the municipality of Balilihan, which is about 22 kilometers from Tagbilaran City. This hidden gem has a beautiful backdrop of green and lush vegetation with lots of ferns and other tropical plants. The water cascades into a basin forming a natural pool where people can bathe and refresh themselves. But before you see this wonderful gem, one has to go thru a very slippery, mossy and rocky trail which is a challenge for climbers and trekkers.
Camugao Falls is truly a hidden gem. It’s far from civilization that even the way to get there isn’t that easy and will really take a great effort. I hope in the near future, it will be developed and would be much accessible to other tourists.

TRAVEL TIPS

  1. There are no cottages at the place so bringing a small mat or blanket with you would be ideal. Bringing umbrella would be perfect too, because when we get there, we almost burn to death because of the scorching hot weather, good thing the water is ice cool and refreshing.
  2. There’s also no food stalls nearby so if you are planning to stay there for quite a long time, I suggest you bring your own food.
  3. There’s also no CR or dressing room in there, so the only way you could change clothes is through the trees and thick shrubberies.
  4. And lastly, I really discourage going there during summer because as you can see above, the water falls isn’t that pouring a lot of water. You’ll appreciate it more during ber months or during January to February.

Chocolate Hills Carmen,Bohol

Image result for chocolate hills bohol story

The Chocolate Hills are probably Bohol’s most famous tourist attraction. They look like giant mole hills, or as some say, women’s breasts, and remind us of the hills in a small child’s drawing. Most people who first see pictures of this landscape can hardly believe that these hills are not a man-made artifact. However, this idea is quickly abandoned, as the effort would surely surpass the construction of the pyramids in Egypt. The chocolate hills consist of are no less than 1268 hills (some claim this to be the exact number). They are very uniform in shape and mostly between 30 and 50 meters high. They are covered with grass, which, at the end of the dry season, turns chocolate brown. From this color, the hills derive their name. At other times, the hills are green, and the association may be a bit difficult to make.

How to get there

Plenty of tourist guides and tour operators will be happy to bring you to the chocolate hills, either as a separate trip or as part of a day tour. However, if you want to go here on your own, from Tagbilaran, you will have to go the integrated bus terminal in Dao and catch a bus going to Carmen. If you look like a stranger, you will have a hard time not finding one. At the entrance of the bus terminal people will point you to the right bus. Make sure it is the first one to leave, and ask the driver to drop you off at the Chocolate Hills complex, about 4 kilometers before the town of Carmen. From there it is a 10 minute walk along a road winding up to the complex.

To get back to Tagbilaran, you will have to walk back to the main road, and wait for a bus to pass by. The last bus from Carmen to Tagbilaran leaves at four P.M. Alternatively, you can use the services of the motorcyclists who often wait here for tourist, and ride ‘habal-habal,’ or motorbike taxi.

If you’re coming from Tubigon (arriving from Cebu by boat), a few buses go to Carmen daily, but sometimes you’ll have to wait for some time for the bus to fill up. When you arrive in Carmen, you can catch the next bus or jeepney in the direction of Bilar, Loay or Tagbilaran, or ask a ‘habal-habal’ driver to bring you to the Chocolate Hills Complex. @lopezkeithjohn26
